Savannah, GA

Savannah, GA

Recently I had the pleasure of joining my husband on a business trip to Savannah. While he was busy at work, I had the luxury of exploring this beautiful and historic city. Some of my favorite things about Savannah include the architecture, the squares (there are over 20) throughout Savannah, the hidden gardens, the amazing restaurants, the waterfront, and the cemetery's. Yes, I love to explore the cemetery's they have so much history in them. Although a lot of the headstones are so weathered you can barely read the names, there are some that you can still read and each of them tell a story about the individual who is laid to rest there. The monuments that are on family plots are beautiful. I can't even imagine what the cost must have been back in those days for the monuments that still stand today. When you are in Savannah you are truly in the South. The moss filled live oak trees that are 100's of years old, the azaleas in bloom everywhere, the southern drawl that I love to hear, and the southern hospitality all make me feel right at home.  It is a destination that you will not want to miss.  Be sure to visit The Wilkes House for lunch, they are only open from 11:00 until 2:00, and the line is always long, so get there early. I felt like I needed to be rolled out of there, I ate so much, it was delicious!  Of course we also went to The Lady and Son's Restaurant, owned by Paula Deen, the food there did not disappoint us. If you would like to view some photos from my adventures in Savannah, please feel free to visit: https://cindycerdaphotography70.pixieset.com/savannah/
